Biblical Wisdom
While It Is Still Today
Hebrews places an ordinary believer’s voice between hidden unbelief and the hardening work of sin.
Scripture Hebrews 3:12–13
Hebrews places the warning in the care of the whole church: “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God.”
The danger is inward before it is obvious. A heart turns. Unbelief takes shape. Sin begins to persuade, quietly enough that the person being persuaded may not yet call it persuasion.
The next sentence gives the church something ordinary to do: “But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
Daily encouragement is not usually dramatic. It may sound like a word before work, a message after a hard conversation, a faithful question when someone has gone silent. Hebrews places that small ministry between turning away and being hardened, as if God means to use another believer’s voice before sin’s lie feels like wisdom.
Some souls are kept, under God, because someone spoke while it was still called today.
