What Is Still Warm?
An ember does not have to look impressive to be alive. Begin the day with the smaller, more honest question.
Scripture 2 Timothy 1:6
Maybe your faith does not feel like a flame today.
Do not fake one.
Ask a quieter question: what is still warm?
Is there a prayer you still want to pray? A passage you keep returning to? A conviction you have not been able to dismiss? A small desire to begin again?
That may not look impressive, but an ember does not have to look impressive to be alive.
Paul told Timothy to fan into flame what God had already placed in him. The image assumes there is something worth tending.
Today, resist the urge to perform spirituality. Tend what is real.
Read one passage slowly.
Tell God the truth.
Obey one thing you already understand.
Then return tomorrow.
Prayer
God, show me what is still alive, and teach me to care for it faithfully.
Amen.
